Just a thought

The buzz on all national and international news channels is the racist attacks on Indian students in Melbourne. The media hype has brought this to the attention of the world which is well appreciated but they need to be more responsible about their role in handling and reporting such a delicate situation. They should not be promoting any hatred or any kind of aversion to a particular country or community. The incident is definitely an unfortunate one but then the entire picture projected by the media is sending out a wrong message. Australia being a racist nation and the deplorable conditions of Indian students in Australia are definitely not the entire truth.

Like all true ‘patriots’ have written in numerous posts and articles that Indians should get back and not stay in such countries which don’t treat people with equality. I personally feel that this ridiculous. Even if we go back to India running away from the so called racist Australia society, does Indian society treat us with equality. I belong to Bihar and all my life I have stayed in Bangalore and consider myself a true Bangalorean. If I decide to go back and settle down in Mumbai, Delhi or any other city, how sure am I that I will not be bashed up for being a migrant. I am sure that all of us have encountered discrimination even in our own country in workplaces, trains, public gatherings be on the basis of caste, race, region or even gender. So why such a big hue and cry about Australia being a racist nation. Aren’t we also racist or rather is there any nation that is not racist in some or the other way?

I don’t advocate that the racist attacks to be acceptable but then I am of the opinion that we need to educate the society and not run from a situation. ‘Practice before you preach’ is what we need to follow. We should start to think about ways to curb this thought from spreading, discourage your kids when they think in a discriminating manner, advice your friends to do so too.People need to get over such trivial things and 'make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race'.

**These are entirely my thoughts and if I hurt someone's feelings or sentiments I genuinely didnt intend to do so and apologies in advance**

First trip to the pool

I finally learnt to swim a couple of years back and thanks to my brother for that. I am not a great swimmer coz I have no formal training but I can manage to stay afloat and also cover some distance in the pool. In times when we were young swimming was not an essential part and parents never enrolled kids for swimming classes.

Here in Australia, every Tom,dick and Harry knows how to swim. Kids are sent to the pool as early as 6 months. My little one loves her bath tub too and refuses to come out of it unless forced. Hence I decided to take her to the baby pool in the community health center. To my surprise, she yelled her lungs out for the first 5-10 minutes. To pacify her I got into the pool myself, started playing with her but in vain. She started to scream even more louder.I was so confused what should I do, let her yell or take her in my arms. And with lot of courage and hesitance, I decided to leave her on her own. Within minutes of not getting my attention she calmed down and started to look around. She began to pedal her legs and hands in the water and splashing some water on her and she looked so thrilled. After sometime I just took her out of the pool and embraced her. Hope she enjoys her second trip again today.

I was happy that she did calm down at the end and was happy splashing water with her tiny limbs. And as a parent I learnt to be strong and be able to make that switch between pampering and pretending to ignore.

Colours

I started bloggin just a couple of days back and I was quite disppointed the way my blog looked....plain and simple coz I was using the basic template. I have always loved to customize things that I use so that I get a personalised feel about them. Not too jazzy, not too plain, not too loud, not too boring. I love the perfect blend of colours and that is exactly how I am as a person also. Sometimes when I sit back and think how can I describe myself....it is extremely hard for me to categorise myself.
Anyways now my blog looks all nice and lively.

Weekend Outing

It was our special day this Friday and followed by the weekend....this is perfect setting for a weekend outing. We decided to take a break and we went to Philip Island which is a 2 hours drive from Melbourne.
PI is world famous for its penguin parade at dusk. The world's smallest species of penguins march back to their burrows on shore after sunset. It is such a cute sight to watch them walk slowly to their homes to feed their hungry kids. I have seen the parade twice before and this time it seemed a bit boring but yeah for visitors who see it for the first time it is exciting.
We went to another beautiful natural attraction called Nobbies. It was a brilliantly placed boardwalk on a cliff overlooking the treachorous Bass Strait. The walk is for about 2 kms and has some spectacular scenes to offer....I was blown away by the beauty of the place....it was just mind blowing.
Another highlight was a place called 'AmazeNthings'. This is an innovative idea and it was soo much fun. The place has puzzles, maze and optical illusion rooms....rooms where u think are shrinking, swaying, things that defy gravity. It was super fun and everything about the place was innovative.
On the whole it was a fun filled trip.

Happy Mum's day!!!!

This post is delayed but I was busy celebrating the day with my Mom, so thought this post can wait.
My mom is with me this year on this special day and I wanted it to be special. The reason being I really dont know when next can Mom and me be together and celebrate this day. Though Mum was incomplete this year as I my brother was not around and she missed him a lot.
I baked a Butter Raisin cake for her and it was baked to perfection...she loved it and moreover I was soo thrilled coz it was my first shot at baking. The cake vanished even before we could realise......
And it was my first Mum's day too....though my doll is too small to realise a thing...it just felt sooo good.
So this post is wishing all Mums a very happy Mum's day!!!!!!

Hi !!!!

Finally the day has come when I have made up my mind to start blogging.I have been considering this option for over a year now and trust me I have no idea what took me so long to decide.Blogging is a fad these days and this is not the reason I decided to start as well but it just a way or medium to express my thoughts and feelings.
I have always had things that I would have loved to do but due reasons I have not being able to do them. Now I think that I should try and shorten this list as much as possible coz I dont want to regret not doing something I always wished for. And blogging is definitely one of them.

This is my first blog and I would like to dedicate this to Nish coz he is the one who kept pesturing to start this.
This is for u Nish.......
